Evel Knievel, Daredevil Motorist, Dies; EvelKnievel.com Confirms His Death

Robert Craig Knievel, aka Evel Knievel or sometimes misspelt as Evil Knievel, legendary daredevil/stuntman motorist, has died at the age of 69, announced a message posted on his website EvelKnievel.com. Knievel's death was confirmed by his grand-daughter, Krysten Knievel.

Evil Knievel had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

Evel Knievel was born October 17, 1938, in Butte, Montana. By the end of his career, 35 broken bones put him in the Guinness World Records. And he went through an estimated 200 units of blood to help bring him back to life after countless crashes, said ABC.

Knievel's most famous stunt was probably an attempt to jump the quarter-mile wide Snake River Canyon in Idaho 1974 on his rocket-powered "Sky-Cycle" (video below, awesome!).

CNN reported earlier this week, Knievel amicably settled a lawsuit with rap star Kanye West over West's use of a persona called "Evel Kanyevel" in his video for "Touch the Sky."

Leeland Eisenberg, Hostage-taker of Hillary Clinton's Campaign Office

Leeland Eisenberg is a man having a history of mental illness in New Hampshire. He reportedly went through a divorce and had a history of alcohol abuse. He also had previously spent time in jail.

Today he should have been scheduled to appear in court for a domestic violence hearing, but at around 1:00 pm this afternoon, Leeland Eisenber, with a 'bomb' being strapped on himself, stormed into Hillary Clinton's campaign office in Rochester and took five persons including a baby as hostage.

According to CNN, Lee Eisenberg complained of lack of access to mental health care because he was repeatedly neglected and didn't have the "thousands of dollars" he was told he'd need to pay for his treatment.

Latasha Norman, a quiet and serious student at her friends' eyes was a 20-year-old black student majoring in accounting at the historically black university Jackson State University in Mississippi. She disappeared on November 13 after attending her afternoon class on the day. Her car was left on the campus and the license plate had been torn. Even since, Latasha Norman was not seen until her decomposed body was found on November 29 in the woods off Brown Street near County Line Road in north Jackson after police followed interview info provided by Norman's former boyfriend Stanley Dwayne Cole.

According to Blackamericaweb.com, some, even Jackson law enforcement officials, had complained that the case did not garner the type of national media attention typically seen when white women come up missing.

Stanley Cole, 24, also a student of Jackson State University, who allegedly had struck Latasha in the face with his fist in October was arrested yesterday morning when he appeared in a Pearl, Mississippi courtroom on charges of simple battery. Stanley Cole, now charged with murder,  is detained in the Jackson jail, being held without bond in connection with Lathasha Norman's death.

Blackamericaweb.com reported that today at Jackson State University, all classes have been cancelled and a memorial service for Norman is set for Monday at noon in the Rose Emily McCoy Auditorium.

Possible Emily Sander, aka Zoey Zane, Body Found

Kansas Police has found a female corpse around 50 miles east of El Dorado along U.S.54 during the search for missing Emily Sander, aka Zoey Zane (picture left), an aspiring college porn star for zoeyzane.com. It is said the body's physical description fitly matches Sander's. The authorities is soon to identify it. Princess Diana Watched Dodi Fayed Die

Princess Diana watched lover Dodi Fayed dying after the fatal car crash at Pont de l’Alma Tunnel on August 31 in Paris, testified Sebastien Dorzee, who is a Parisian police who is the first member of the emergency services to reach the scene, before an inquest held on November 28 in London. Congressman Republican Henry Hyde, full name Henry John Hyde, died  earlier today at 3 a.m. CST at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He was 83.

He had suffered complications from an open heart surgery operation at that hospital in July and never completely recovered from the procedure.

Hyde (born April 18, 1924) was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1975 to 2007, representing the 6th District of Illinois. Cash Money Records CEO and president, rapper Birdman, real name Bryan 'Baby' Williams, was among sixteen people arrested on November 27 in Kingsport, Tennessee for marijuana possession.

The Birdman entourage, including his 18 year-old wife Brittany and brother Ronald "Slim" Williams, were traveling in an RV on Interstate 81, when they were stopped by police troopers for allegedly forcing an 18-wheeler truck into the emergency lane for a yield.

First Moon Surface Picture by China's Chang-E 1 Lunar Probe

The black and white picture showing rough surface scattered with big or small pits was made public at a gala ceremony in Beijing Aerospace Control Center on November 26 by Premier Wen Jiabao, who hailed it as a major step in "the Chinese race's 1,000-year-old dream" of exploring the moon.

Wen asserted in a passionate and inspiring speech on Monday that China has joined the select group of world powers with the capabilities to engage in deep-space exploration.

The success, he said not only manifested China's rising national strength and technical innovation capability but also elevated the country's international status and cemented national cohesion.

"It showcases eloquently that the Chinese people have the will, the ambition and the capability to compose more shining new chapters while ascending the science and technology summit," Wen said.

Citing a letter from an overseas Chinese, Wen said that the farther the China-made satellite flew, the higher would the overseas Chinese hold their heads.

Ancient Roman Road Map: Tabula Peutingeriana (large version)

Tabula Peutingeriana, made in the Middle Ages, is the only surviving copy of a road map from the late Roman Empire. It dates from the late 12th or the early 13th century and was made in Southern Germany or Austria.

The nearly-7-metre-long parchment scroll shows the network of main Roman roads from Spain to India.

At first sight, it looks very unlike a modern map.

Both the landmass and the seas have been stretched and flattened. The Mediterranean has been reduced to a thin strip of water, more like a river than a sea.

Instead of being oriented from north to south, the map, which is only 34 centimetres wide, works from west to east.

At the centre of the Tabula Peutingeriana is Rome. The city, represented by a crowned figure on a throne, has numerous roads leading to and from the metropolis. Some, such as the Via Appia and the Via Aurelia, still exist today.

The Tabula Peutingeriana, one of the Austrian National Library's greatest treasures, is normally never shown to the public and has been on display for only one day to celebrate its inclusion in Unesco's Memory of the World Register on 26 November 2007. Sean Taylor was shot by the intruder(s) at the early morning of Monday and his femoral artery was damaged by a bullet. After being airlifted to the Jackson Memorial Hospital, Sean Taylor underwent nearly six hours of emergency surgery and couldn't survive the severe blood loss. Taylor died early this morning in the hospital. He is survived by his fiancee Jackie Garcia, 18-month-old daughter and his family. Peggy Fossett, the wife of millionaire American adventurer Steve Fossett, who disappeared in the remote terrain of western Nevada while flying the single-engine Citabria plane on September 3, has asked a court to declare him legally dead.

"As painful as it is for Mrs. Fossett, other members of the family and his many friends, it is time to initiate this process," said attorney Michael A. LoVallo, who filed the petition in Cook County Circuit Court.

The request was understood as a step toward resolving the legal status of Fossett's estate, which according to court papers is "vast, surpassing eight figures in liquid assets, various entities and real estate."

Rafael Robb, an ex-economics professor at the University of Pennsylvania, admitted killing wife Ellen Robb during the last Christmas. Rafael and Ellen had been married since 1990 but ut was reported that the couple had long been estranged.  From Foxnews

Robb, 57, said Monday that he got into an argument with his wife about a trip she was taking with their daughter and whether they would be returning in time for the daughter [Olivia Robb] to return to school.

"We started a discussion about that. The discussion was tense," Robb said. "We were both anxious about it. We both got angry. At one point, Ellen pushed me. ... I just lost it."

Taylor has a residence in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay that he bought for $900,000 in 2005. The shooting was not deadly and Sean Taylor was undergoing treatment at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

In 2005, Sean Taylor was accused of brandishing a gun at a man named Ryan Hill who was alleged of stealing his all-terrain vehicles. Hill suffered bruising to his body, incurred medical expenses and lost wages because of the fight. It was now unclear if the shooting was associated with Ryan Hill's vengeance. Kevin DuBrow, The Quiet Riot Vocalist, Found Dead at His Las Vegas Home

Kevin DuBrow, the lead singer of the heavy metal band Quiet Riot, was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday, November 25. The American rock vocalist was 52.

DuBrow formed the heavy metal band Dubrow ( Carlos Cavazo - Guitars, Kevin DuBrow - Vocals, Rudy Sarzo - Bassist Frankie Banali - Drums) in 1980 and later changed the name to Quiet Riot with the release of Metal Health they stormed to the top of the charts. Their latest album, Rehab, was released on October 3, 2006.

It was reported on The Vegas Eye website that Kevin DuBrow was found dead in his apartment that day. No further information was provided.

Julia Carson Suffering Terminal Lung Cancer

Congresswoman Julia Carson revealed she has terminal lung cancer in a statement Saturday November24 to the Indianapolis Star newspaper. Carson expressed her" eternal gratitude" to family, friends and her constituents.

Carson, a Democrat who has represented Indianapolis at the Hoosier State's 7th District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1997, has been on leave from Congress since September to seek treatment and rehabilitation for a leg infection.

"Then the second shoe fell -- heavily," Carson said in the written statement. "My doctor discovered lung cancer. It had gone into remission years before, but it was back with a terminal vengeance."

Today Sunday friends said that she is in hospice care, barely able to speak.

Kennedy, the left-hander won 43 games for five teams in seven seasons, passed out at home and was taken to a local hospital, where he was was pronounced dead.

The official cause of his death could not immediately be determined, though some sources are indicating it may have been a brain aneurysm.

Joe Kennedy, is survied by his wife, Jami, and their 1-year-old son, Kaige.

Nissan Recall Includes 650,000 Sedans For Faulty Engine Part

Nissan is recalling more than 650,000 sedans for a faulty engine part installed in the vehicles that can overheat and cause the sedans to stall at low speeds.

The recall, posted Wednesday on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, includes 2002, 2005 and 2006 Altimas and Sentras with 2.5 four-cylinder engines.

Joseph Lambraith, An Arizona Skydiver Dies During World Record-setting Practice Jump

Joseph Lambraith, 49, a experienced skydiver of Gilbert, Arizona, who was injured while preparing for the world record-setting attempt last weekend in Florida has died from those injuries.

There were one hundred skydivers who linked together in the sky to form a diamond shape with their parachutes want to break a world record on Saturday.

Lambraith was injured during the practice jump when his foot became entangled in the cord of another parachute and he spiraled to the ground. He died Tuesday.

The successful 100-way formation on Wednesday was confirmed by four judges from the U.S. Parachute Association and broke a previous record of an 85-way formation.

CNN cited the New England Journal of Medicine as source reported that an 18-year-old woman in Illinois who once had  a habit of eating her hair - a condition called trichophagia [wiki]--had a 4.5 kg trichobezoar (hairball) removed from the stomach.

She complained of a five-month history of pain and swelling in her abdomen, vomiting after eating and a 40-pound weight loss.

After a scan of the woman's abdomen showed a large mass, doctors lowered a scope through her esophagus.

It revealed "a large bezoar occluding nearly the entire stomach," wrote Drs. Ronald M. Levy and Srinadh Komanduri, gastroenterologists at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The woman underwent surgery to remove the mass of black, curly hair, which weighed 10 pounds and measured 15 inches by 7 inches by 7 inches, the doctors said.

Five days later, she was eating normally and was sent home.

A year later, the pain and vomiting were gone, the patient had regained 20 pounds "and reports that she has stopped eating her hair."

The following picture found from the special collections of human hairball or trichobezoars in the National Museum of Health and Medicine possibly showed the teenager had undergone a similar hairball removal surgery.

Gregory Dunham, from California's Stockton, built the world's biggest motorcycle, which was officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The beauty shop owner said he created the monster bike because his friends said it couldn't be done and he wanted to prove it could.

Greg Dunham spent three years in his workshop crafting this 11 feet tall, 20 feet long monster bike which was powered by a 8.2 litre (V8 engine and has tyres that are 1.88 m tall.

Even though, the 6,500-pound motorcycle with a pricetag of $300,000 is totally rideable (watch video below), we think, very few people would like to buy the world tallest motorcycle.

Natalee Ann Holloway, born October 21, 1986, who is from Mountain Brook, Alabama, disappeared on May 30, 2005 during a graduation trip with 124 fellow graduates of Mountain Brook High School to Aruba.

As Natalee Holloway was last seen leaving with Joran van der Sloot, and his two companions, the brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, in Deepak's car at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2005, Joran van der Sloot and Kalpoes brothers had once become the prime suspects for Natalee Holloway homicide suspects. But due to the lack of evidence, the trio weren't charged or got any sentences.

Today November 21, 2007, Van der Sloot was re-arrested in Amsterdam, along with the Kalpoe brothers in Aruba, on suspicion of involvement in manslaughter and causing seriously bodily harm that caused the death of the 18-year-old American.

Update 1: Deepak & Satish Kalpoe brothers were freed on December 1.

Update 2: Hans Mos, the Aruba's chief prosecutor, said he will close the Natalee Holloway case by the end of the month (December, 2007) unless his office finds that there is enough evidence to charge someone with a major crime.

The fossilised remains of a giant claw that once belonged to a sea scorpion roughly 2.5 metres long have been found in Germany.

Researchers say the monstrous creature is the largest arthropod ever known – over 30 centimetres bigger than the previous largest specimen of the same species.

Erik Tetlie at Yale University, examined the 46-centimetre-long claw, found in a quarry near Prüm, western Germany, and believe it belonged to a sea scorpion species called Jaekelopterus rhenaniae that roamed the ocean floors between 460 and 255 million years ago.

Pamela (Joan) Rogers, who was described as sex addict by a psychologist, was a former elementary school physical education teacher and coach in McMinnville, Tennessee. She had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy, one of her students in Centertown Elementary School. During the three-month relationship, Rogers and the teen had dozens of sexual activities in the school, in her house, and in the teen's home.

Pamela Rogers faced 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape on February 4, 2005, but pleaded not guilty after she posted bail of $50,000.

On August 12, 2005, Pamela Rogers plead no contest to 4 charges of sexual battery. She was sentenced 9 months to the Warren County jail in Tennessee. During an 8-year suspended sentence where bans her from profiting from the case and being interviewed by the medias, she must also serve a term of 7 years and 3 months of probation, register as a sex offender, and surrender her teaching certificate for life.

On April 24, 2006, Pamela Rogers was arrested again on charges that she had sent text messages, nude photos, and sex videos of herself to the same boy while using her father's cellphone. She was also charged for communicating with the boy via online means. The judge ordered her to remain in jail until her next court hearing.

On July 14, 2006, Pamela Rogers was sentenced to 7 years in prison for violating her probation by sending explicit videos to her former victim and maintaining contact with him via online blogs. 

Rogers asked for mercy and apologized to her family and the teen's family saying tearfully to the judge (video below). But Circuit Judge Bart Stanley denied her request.

In January 2007, Pamela Rogers received two additional years of prison time after pleading guilty to sending nude photos of herself to the boy.

Pamela Rogers, born born July 1, 1977, married Christopher Turner, a High School basketball coach, in 2003. The couple were divorced 2005.

'Tea on toast', the frozen Earl Grey ice cream developed by the British head chef Sean Wilkinson (below) at Durham's gourmet restaurant The Avenue, has won the Restaurant magazine's award for best dessert.

The dish, a twist on the usually-plain national favourite, is made with a a balloon which is inflated with nitrogen gas, filled with earl grey tea and then frozen solid with liquid nitrogen, served with brown toast and marmalade puree, raspberry jelly and shortcake.

Donda West Funeral Held in Okalahoma City

Rapper Kanye West's mom Donda West was laid to rest on November 20 at the True Vine Ministry Church in her native Oklahoma city. Her body arrived at the church in a coffin via white hearse, and after the service was taken to a cemetery by two horse-drawn carriages, reported MTV.com

Entertainers John Legend, Anita Baker, Beyonce and Jay-Z attended Tuesday's Donda West funeral service.

The night before, Kanye West performed in Brussels, Belgium, where he again paid a very emotional tribute.

Donda West, 58, former chair of the English department at Chicago State University, died November 10, a result of complications from a tummy tuck and breast reduction medical procedure performed by (in)famous plastic surgeon Jan Adams.

Monique Idlett, the Sales and Marketing Vice president of BRE Magazine, has engaged, reported People.com. Her fiance is Timbaland (picture below, via), a music producer who is renowned for his in-demand hitmaking abilities with his outlandish production style. Timbaland has produced an endless list of hits, for Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Ginuwine, Snoop Dogg, Nas, and Justin Timberlake among others. Monique Idlett is his publist.

According to the magazine, Monique Idlett has given the birth to a baby girl days before. And Timbaland proposed to Idlett at the couple's baby shower in October.

Monique Idlett, 33, and Timbaland, whose original name is Timothy Z. Mosley, have been dating for two years. "They're both really happy together," a source told the magazine. "They've known each other for years."

Dennis Quaid & Kimberly Buffington's Newborn Twins Are Fighting For Accidental Overdose At Hospital

Quaid twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, the newborn twins of Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly Buffington, are fighting for their lives after being inadvertently overdosed of Heparin( an anti-coagulant) on Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

From TMZ:

Babies typically get 10 units. Our sources say they were each mistakenly given 10,000 units. The drug is used to flush out IV lines and prevent blood clots.

Both babies started to "bleed out" on Sunday night. Both babies are now at Cedars in the neo-natal intensive care unit where we're told they are stable.

Mary-Kate Olsen, the 21-year-old actress reportedly was rushed to the emergency room of a New York hospital with a kidney infection on Monday.

Three Boys, Ages 8 and 9, Charged With Rape of 11-Year-Old Girl At A Georgia Apartment Complex

The three boys -- an 8-year-old and two 9-year-olds -- whose names were withheld because of their age, were charged on Monday (Nov. 19) with rape and kidnap an 11-year-old girl on Nov. 15 at a Georgia apartment (Ga.) complex.

"The victim said they were playing outdoors and the girl was forced into a wooded area where she was sexually assaulted, where one of the boys raped her," Dennard told The Associated Press.

Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head said the boys could not be charged with felony crimes because of their age but could be tried for alleged delinquent acts that could place them in a juvenile facility for up to five years.

The next step will be for the court to schedule a hearing to determine how to proceed in the case, Head said.

Acworth Police Chief Mike Wilkie said one of the boys was accused of threatening to hit the girl with a rock before the alleged assault. Wilkie also said the investigation is "far from over," and investigators are looking into claims that after the alleged attack, the girl talked about it with her friends at a slumber party.

The girl's mother told WGCL-TV in Atlanta, "They do need to be taught a lesson because if they do it to her, they could do it to somebody else. And who knows when they become teenagers what they can do to other girls."

The case involves children from a working class apartment complex. Acworth, 30 miles northwest of Atlanta along the shores of Lake Allatoona, is a town of about 17,000.
