Louis Palmer Starts World Journey With Solartaxi
Swiss adventurer Louis Palmer arrives with his solartaxi in Berlin July 9, 2007. Palmer started for his 50,000 km (31,068.56 miles) journey, which will go through 50 countries and five continents, on June 2 in Lucerne, Switzerland. The solartaxi, which can travel at a maximum speed of 90 km/h (55 mph) on its three wheels, is powered 100 percent by solar energy obtained through the vehicle, which includes a trailer on the back with solar cells.
Though the 35-year-old schoolteacher's motivation was not to make the vehicle commercially viable, he does want people tp think about their energy use and look at sustainable ways of transportation.
